Our program services three subpopulations within this at-risk teen group.
- Girls from dysfunctional families who are primarily functional yet cannot reside at home.
- Girls thrown out of good homes or girls who leave on their own, that have the potential to transition back to home or
to independent living.
- Girls who are failing in their environment due to extreme pressure, and need to reclaim
themselves with self knowledge and self reliance.
We help our girls:
- Take reasonable steps to establish healthy relationships with parents.
- Expand coping skills to deal with anger, frustration, failure, rejection, criticism etc . . .
- Eliminate self defeating and/or destructive thoughts and behaviors.
- Make satisfactory progress toward a school diploma.
- Participate in activities for promotion of physical health.
- Practice acceptable social graces, table manners, speech habits, and social etiquette.
- Acquire an awareness of how one's behavior affects others.
- Learn to accept legitimate authority in a positive non-rebellious way.
- Develop a healthy self-respect.
- Improve self-discipline.
- Set and work toward clear and realistic goals.
- Accept personal responsibility for decisions.
Our objective is to develop a suitable discharge plan for these girls within an 18-month period. This may include a placement within a
residential school facility, an independent living arrangement paired with a job placement or at best a successful return to their families along with family therapy. Meanwhile, their medical, dental, nutritional, clothing, educational, mental health, vocational and social needs are addressed.
